How long do they last and how often do they need to be replaced?
Once the nail caps are applied they remain in place for approximately 4-6 weeks. They will fall off with the natural growth of your pet’s nails. Check your pet’s nails at least weekly, as usually just one or two nail caps fall off at a time; these can be easily reapplied.
The majority of pets acclimate to the Purrdy Paws soft claw covers within minutes, and do not notice they are wearing nail caps. Some pets may require an adjustment period. Pet’s fastidious natures sometimes cause them to groom the claw covers excessively at first. This may result in one or two falling off – No problem. Just check the claws daily at first and if one is missing, simply replace it with another from the package. Thus, the first package may not last as long as subsequent packages.
A good tip is to feed your pet his or her favorite food after applying the Purrdy Paws. This serves as a good reward and also diverts their attention away from their new nail caps. Some people find it easier to apply the Purrdy Paws when their pets are sleepy.
Can cats still retract their claws while wearing Purrdy Paws?

What if the nail caps keep falling off?
This is almost always because the caps are too large for your pet’s nails. If the nail cap is too large then the adhesive will not properly bond & the cap will come loose within the first few days after applying. Always make sure the nail cap is snug before attempting to use the adhesive on it. If you do find the caps are too large just contact us to arrange a free exchange for the proper size.
Are Purrdy Paws safe and do they hurt the pet?
Purrdy Paws are completely safe, painless and non-toxic. Neither the vinyl nail cap and the glue will cause any issues if ingested.
Over filling the nail cap or glue contact with your pet’s skin can cause irritation and should be avoided.

What if I select the wrong size?
No problem! When you receive your package, first take one of the nail caps out and try it on your pet’s claws without the glue; it should fit like a glove. If it is the wrong size then simply contact us at info@purrdypaws.com. We will send out the correct size and include a prepaid envelope for you to return the other set. This pertains to domestic customers only.

Can Purrdy Paws be used on back claws?
Yes. Although many people apply Purrdy Paws only to the front paws, they can also be used on the back claws.
Applying Purrdy Paws to the hind claws will help prevent damage from pets jumping on and off furniture. Many people have used Purrdy Paws on the hind claws of pets who have skin problems and scratch excessively. The nail caps help prevent self-inflicted damage from scratching.
What should I do if the Purrdy Paws stay on longer than six weeks?
Normally the nail caps will fall off with the natural growth of the pet’s nails. But, some pets don’t shed their nails as rapidly and the nail caps don’t fall off on their own. If this occurs, all that needs to be done is to trim the very tip of the nail cap. This will help break the adhesive seal and the nail caps should fall off.
Please note: It is important to periodically check your cat’s nails, i.e. once weekly, to ensure none of the nails have grown too long. Since cats’ nails grow in a curved manner, if they grow too long, they will start to curl under the paw pad. If you notice the nail is too long, just trim the tip of the nail cap to remove. Always contact a veterinarian if you should have any concerns with your pet’s health.
What do I do if I accidentally got glue on my pet's skin?
Wet the area with glue on it with warm water, then apply a small amount of salt to it. Rub the salt in firmly for about a minute then wash it off with warm soapy water. This generally works for smaller amounts of adhesive. For larger amounts you would be best off with an acetone based nail polish remover. Just apply it using a q-tip and gently swirl it around. Make sure to again wash the area when finished with warm soapy water. Always contact a veterinarian if you should have any concerns with your pet’s health.
Should Purrdy Paws only be used on indoor cats?
Yes. Purrdy Paws should only be used on indoor cats because they will blunt the pet’s defenses. Cats who go outdoors should not wear Purrdy Paws.
